For quite a long time I've always been interested in running my own personal server, either for game hosting or general use (such as this website that you are currently browsing). This dream has been a reality for about half a year now, as I am the owner of a second-hand IBM System X3350 M2 server, a 1U rack-mountable server with a menagerie of parts also bought second-hand. As of time of writting, it's sporting two Xeon X5570's (4-Core / 8-Thread, 2.93 GHz / 3.06 GHz Turbo) and 40 GB of Registered DDR3 RAM (1333 for speed, I'm pretty sure..)

Most of this RAM is currently being thrown at Minecraft servers, with a bit reserved for running a SteamCMD server and a Terraria server (each server is a private instance of Ubuntu Server running through Hyper-V, with Server'16 Datacenter as the host.) Some of it is still left over, and I certainly wouldn't be opposed to renting it out to anyone who was interested (which isn't very many I assume, Ubuntu Server isn't exactly that user friendly.)
